Eight-time National Film Award winner music composer Alauddin Ali turns 65 today.
Famous for songs like ‘O Amar Bangla Ma Tor’, the music maestro informs DhakaLive that no special programme has been organised for the birthday celebration as he will be observing the anniversary with his family in a simple manner.
However, Alauddin Ali will attend a special programme on Channel i titled ‘Taroka Kathon’ on his birthday. The programme will be telecast live at 12:30pm.
After that, the music director will go home and spend time with family members.
“Of late, I am not feeling well. I am grief-stricken since the death of actor-director Amjad Hossain. We worked together in so many films! His untimely demise was beyond imagination,” he said.
“I pray to almighty Allah to grant him Jannah. And for myself, I seek blessings from everyone so that I can stay healthy and contribute to the music industry,” he added.
The music composer was recently honoured by Citibank with ‘Gaan-e Gaan-e Gunijon Shongbordhona’ for his lifetime contribution to Bangla music.
Alauddin Ali made his debut as a music director with the film ‘Shondhikkhon’ in 1975. He first received his National Film Award as music director with ‘Golapi Ekhon Train-e’ (1978), directed by Amzad Hossain. He won the same prestigious award six more times as a music director. He also won the same award for his lyrics composed for the song ‘Amar Mon-er Bhitor Onek Jala’ in Mainul Hasan’s film ‘Premik’.
