Housemaid’s body exhumed 5-day after burial

Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) unearthed motive of killing of a housemaid and exhumed her body after five days of burial from her grave in remote Noakhalipara village under Haragachh Metropolitan Thana here today.

Police officials said housemaid Shima, 13, was working at the house of one Mofizul Islam alias Salu in Munshipara area of the city where she was allegedly killed on December 15.

Later, the killers preserved Shima’s body inside a refrigerator, motivated her parents by paying money and secretly buried the body at midnight in remote Noakhalipara village on December 17.

Getting the information, RpMP Commissioner Abdul Alim Mahmud formed a three-member probe committee comprising of Deputy Commissioner (Crime) Muttaki Ibnu Mian, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Crime) Shahidullah Kawser and Assistant Commissioner (Kotwali zone) Jamir Uddin to investigate into the mysterious murder.

During investigation, the probe committee unearthed motive behind killing of the housemaid.

The victim’s mother filed a murder case on December 19 when Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali Thana of RpMP Rezaul Karim and appointed Sub-inspector Mamunur Rashid as its Investigation Officer. Accordingly, police arrested accused Mofizul Islam alias Salu, 50, Ambia Khatun, 22 and Shirina Begum, 40, Md Mukul, 45, and Kawser Zaman Babla, 55, from different areas of the city.

When produced before a Rangpur court on Friday, Accordingly, accused Ambia Khatun, Shirina Begum and Md Mukul gave confessional statement admitting their involvement with the murder and efforts of diverting the murder into other directions. As per order of the court, Kotwali Thana police today exhumed the body in presence of an executive magistrate after five days of burial and conducted its autopsy at Rangpur Medical College Hospital morgue today.
