Subscriptions of REB reach 12.9 million

The number of subscribers of Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (REB) has reached to 12.9 million people until September, says a press release.
In line with the Vision 2021, REB has taken up a number of activities at hand including construction of 0.13 million new power distribution lines, 1,107 sub-centres, implementing five new projects, construct 25,000km electricity lines each year, and install pre-paid meters for 5.4 million subscribers, the statement said.
The REB aims to bring the whole population under power supply by 2018.
During the last month, 330,000 new subscriptions were added across the country.
REB Chairman Brig Gen Moin Uddin has thanked all the employees of Pally Bidyut Samities (Rural Electricity Societies) for the achievement, the statement added.
