Man held with 2kg gold from Ctg airport

Officials of Customs Intelligence arrested an expatriate along with 2.12kg gold at Shah Amanat International Airport here on Tuesday noon.
The arrestee was identified Hafez Mohammad Khairul Bashar. Custom Assistant Commissioner Mahbubur Rahman said Bashar arrived at the airport by a flight of Air Arabia (G9526) airlines from the United Arab Emirates on December 15. But, he left his two bags in the airport, said the official adding that he came to the airport to collect his bags. By this time, the customs officials detected the gold inside the two bags while scanning those and later, arrested Bashar.
21 training institutes to get grants

Skills and Employment Programme in Bangladesh (SEP-B), also known as SUDOKKHO has partnered with twenty-one new private training institutes, says a press release.
This initiative is part of the ongoing scale-up of the programme’s collaboration with private training institutes to increase their capacity as training providers and become sustainable business entities in the private training market of Bangladesh.
The new partners are Akhter Technical Institute (ATI), Manusher Jonno Foundation, UCEP Bangladesh, BRAC, Noakhali Technical Institute, Muslim Aid Institute of Technology (MAIT), UDOY, Asea Trading International, Hazrat Shahjalal Polytechnic Institute (HSPI), National Institute of Fashion Technology, National Professional Institute (NPI), BGIFT Institute of Science & Technology, Rural Reconstruction Foundation (RRF), Sheba Manab Kallyan Kendra (SMKK), Meaningful Advancement in Techniques (MAIT), Salman Training Center, Peace & Rights Development of Society (PRDS), Star Bangla Technical Training (SBTT), Asia Technical Training Center (Asia TTC), Universal Institute of Business and Technology (UIBT) and Grameen Shikkha (GS).
27 Rajshahi FFs given reception

A total of 27 police freedom fighters were honoured yesterday morning through a reception as recognition to the laudable and heroic role towards independence of the country.
Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) organised the reception ceremony at police line conference hall to mark the 48th Great Victory Day. RMP Commissioner AKM Hafiz Akter distributed crests and gifts among the freedom fighter police officers and members.
Chaired by RMP Commissioner Hafiz Akter, the ceremony was addressed, among others, by retired Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police and valiant Freedom Fighter Md Obaidullah, RMP Additional Commissioner Sujayet Islam and Deputy Commissioner Tanveer Haider Chowdhury. Recalling his memory Md Obaidullah said the country people would never forget the sacrifice of police during the War of Liberation.
Workshop held at UGC

Secondary and Higher Education Division Secretary Md Sohorab Hossain yesterday said National Qualification Framework (NQF) is highly needed for ensuring quality education at tertiary level to compete with other counterparts in national and international arenas.
He made the call while addressing a daylong workshop titled ‘Bangladesh National Qualification Framework’ at UGC auditorium here on Tuesday.
Quality Assurance Unit (QAU) of University Grants Commission (UGC) organised this workshop. He also underscored the need for transforming country’s human being into human resource. With UGC Chairman Professor Abdul Mannan in the chair, the workshop was addressed by members of UGC Dr Yousuf Ali Mollah and Dr Md Akhtar Hossain as special guests. UGC Chairman in his speech said higher education has been gaining momentum and pace in Bangladesh over the years.
