BCB-North Zone made a miserable start as they lost five wickets to put on 95 against Walton Central Zone at the end of the second day of the fifth-round fixture of the Bangladesh Cricket League in Rajshahi yesterday.
North captain Jahurul Islam chose to bat at Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadium after winning the toss and mislaid two top-order batsmen-Mizanur Rahman and Forhad Hossain- inside six overs. Together with Naeem Islam, Zunaid Siddique attempted to rebuild the innings but Arafat Sunny sent back Zunaid for 35 while North Zone was sprawling at 69. The team later lost Sabbir Rahman and Saqlain Sojib before the day’s proceedings was called off. Naeem was not out 29. Fast-bowler Taskin Ahmed took two wickets.
Elsewhere at Bogura’s Shaheed Chandu Stadium, Islami Bank East Zone sustained a mini-collapse after being made a good start against Prime Bank South Zone as the former dislodged three wickets in the space of 11 runs when they slumped 75-1 to 85-3.
In-form Yasir Ali partnered with Mohammad Ashraful and stopped the falling for a while with their 103-run fourth-wicket. Ashraful went for 37 what Imrul Kayes did before his dismissal. Rony Talukdar chipped in with 40.
