The Election Commission yesterday directed the authorities concerned to withdraw the Deputy Commissioner of Gaibandha, Assistant Deputy Commissioner of Faridpur and officers-in-charge of Ramna Police Station in Dhaka, Sonaimuri in Noakhali, Bijoynagar in Brahmanbaria and Thakurgaon Sadar police station.
The EC took the decision at a meeting after complaints filed against the officials were found to be true, said EC Secretary Helaluddin Ahmed.
He said the Commission sent a letter to the Public Administration Ministry for withdrawing the Gaibandha DC Sebastin Rema and Faridpur ADC Saiful Islam, while another letter to the Inspector General of Police for removing the four OCs -- Kazi Mainul Islam of Ramna station, Abdul Majid of Sonaimuri, Kabir Hossain of Bijoynagar and Mustafizur Rahman of Thakurgaon Sadar.
Earlier, Jatiya Oikyafront candidates lodged complaints against most of the six officials demanding their removal ahead of the 11th national election slated for December 30.
