SEU signs MoU with Chinese college

Southeast University (SEU), Bangladesh and Chongqing City Management College (CCMC), China, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Monday in order to extend mutual academic cooperation. Under the agreement, SEU students and faculty members will get opportunities to study and conduct research, says a press release. SEUT BoT representative member M Kamaluddin Chowdhury, VC Prof Dr ANM Meshquat Uddin, Prof Dr AFM Mafizul Islam and Maj Gen (Retd) Kazi Fakhruddin Ahmed were present on behalf of the SEU while Huang Juying, Deng Chunmei, Chen Yong were present on behalf of the Chinese college at SEU conference room in the capitals Banani area.
Workshop on National Qualification Framework held at UGC auditorium

Quality Assurance Unit (QAU) of University Grants Commission (UGC) organised a day-long workshop on Bangladesh National Qualification Framework at UGC auditorium yesterday. Secretary of Secondary and Higher Education Division Sohorab Hossain was present as chief guest while Professor Dr Mohammad Yousuf Ali Mollah, and Professor Dr Akhtar Hossain were present special guests. UGC Chairman Professor Abdul Mannan presided over the programme, says a press release. Meanwhile, a-seven member delegation from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) called on UGC Chairman Abdul Mannan at UGC Bhaban yesterday. Managing Director of UTM Professor Dr Mohd Azraai bin Kassim led the delegation. Other members of the delegation included Professor Dr Mohd Ghazali bin Mohd Nawawi, chair, School of Chemical and Energy Engineering, Professor Dr Othman Che Puan, chair, School of Professional Continuing Education, Angela Pok Wei Fun, director, Transnational Education Division and Strategy, Zulkifli Bin Osman, general manager, Transnational Education Division, UTM, Syed M Ariful Hasan, managing director, Knowledge Hub and Masud Rana, director, Knowledge Hub. They discussed various aspects of higher education including collaborative research, professional development of academia, need-based research projects, exchange programme for students and faculties between Bangladesh and UTM for promotion and internationalisation of higher education.
JUJA gets new executive committee

Jahangirnagar University Journalist Association (JUJA) yesterday elected new executive committee for the next one year. Plabon Tarique of The Independent and Hasan Al Mahmud of Daily Observer have been made President and General Secretary respectively. Chief Election Commissioner Professor Dr Rasheda Akhter announced the election result after counting the vote of 38 campus correspondents of different online and print media about at 2 pm. JUJA Adviser Professor Bashir Ahmed, Election Commissioner Associate Professor Awlad Hossain and Assistant Professor Borhan Uddin were present among others at the result announcing session. The other office bearers are Vice-president Joynul Abedin Shishir of Deshe Bedeshe, Joint Secretary Omar Faruk Jabed of Daily Nayadiganta, Treasurer Rahul M Usuf of Daily Jugantar and Office and Publication Secretary Shairful Islam Shimanta of Bangladesh Pratidin. The elected three executive members are: Abir Abdullah of Share Biz, Tarek Aziz of Campus Live and Roudra Azad of The New Nation. Earlier, JU Vice-chancellor Professor Farzana Islam, Pro Vice-chancellor (Administration) Professor Amir Hussain, Treasurer Professor Sheikh Md Monzurul Haque, teachers of different departments, representatives of different social and political and cultural organizations visited the election center during the polls.
