HUMAN TRAFFICKING
Periodic reports to be made to get true picture

National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Bangladesh in partnership with Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) will make periodic report on overall situation of the countrys human trafficking. After preparing the report they submit it to the government in February every year, said a group of civil society members at a preparatory meeting titled periodic reporting on human trafficking in partnership with NHRC and CSOs at NHRC office in the capitals Karwan Bazar area on Monday.
On behalf of the Prevention of Child Trafficking through Strengthening Community and Networking (PCTSCN), INCIDIN Bangladesh organised the event. NHRC Chairman Kazi Reazul Hoque attended the meeting as chief guest. The US State Department, which assesses Bangladeshs overall human trafficking situation every year, does not get true picture and they make negative comment in their observation about trafficking in Bangladesh, they said mentioning that the US State Department, in their last two assessments, put Bangladesh in tier 2 watch list category regarding trafficking in Bangladesh. If the situation continued, the USA may place sanctions on Bangladesh.
In their yearly report, the CSOs hoped that they will be able to submit the report timely, portraying the full scenario about the trafficking. It would be helpful to spread true information and knowledge, which will eradicate misunderstanding regarding trafficking in Bangladesh.
