Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Bangladesh Ansar clinched the men’s and women’s title respectively in the Victory Day Handball Tournament held at Shaheed M Monsur Ali Handball Stadium in the capital yesterday.
BGB posted a massive 32-9 goals win over Bangladesh Police in the men’s final after leading the first half 14-3. Taju Hassan with ten goals was the top scorer for the winners, while Mahbub contributed five for Police.
Earlier, Bangladesh Ansar edged past BJMC 23-14 in the women’s final. The first half scores were 13-7 in favour of Ansar. Ismat Ara of BGB and Rupa of BJMC banged six goals each. Taju Hassan of BGB and Alpona of Ansar were adjudged the best player in their respective division.
