Universities celebrate Victory Day

Different public and private universities celebrated the 48th Victory Day with due respects and solemnity and festive mode.

 Correspondent, RU: The authorities of Rajshahi University (RU) and Rajshahi University Engineering and Technology (RUET) celebrated the day with befitting manner on the campus respectively.

RU vice-chancellor Prof Dr M Abdus Sobhan along with high officials of the university placed wreaths at the university Shaheed Minar at 12:01am.

Marking the day, they brought out a rally at 6:45 am in front of Administrative Office and parading different roads ended Sabash Bangladesh playground.  Sports competition, art competition among university school students, discussion, cultural functions were also arranged.  RUET vice-chancellor Md Rafiqul Islam Sheikh with it top officials placed wreath at the Shaheed Minar at 12:01 am. They chalked out different programmes including art competition around 9am, sports competition at the central gymnasium, discussion meeting and cultural. A special prayer was also offered in the REUT central mosque after Asr.

Correspondent, IU: Marking the day, the Islamic University (IU) vice-chancellor Prof M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari hoisted the national flag while its pro-vice-chancellor Prof M Shahinoor Rahman hoisted the university flag in front of the university’s administrative building around 9:40am.

 Later, the teachers, officials, students and employees of the university brought a colourful procession, led by the vice-chancellor in front of the administrative building. The procession ended in front of Mukta Bangla after parading main roads of the campus.

Later, the university authorities, IUTA, Bangabandhu Parisad, Shapla Forum, Zia Parisad, IUJA and different halls, students and teachers associations placed floral wreaths at Mukta Bangla.  A cultural function, sports and debate competitions and food distribution programme was also held to mark the day.

Staff reporter, Dhaka: Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU) in Gazipur to mark the day has taken elaborated programmes including hoisting the national flag and march past at dawn, offering floral wreath at the Bangabandhu’s Mural and Joy Bangla sculpture on the campus, Children’s art competition, sports and speech competition for university students, says a press release. Prof Md Giashuddin Miah, vice-chancellor of the university, placed floral wreaths.
