Madrassa boy killed in clash

A madrassa student was killed and four others were injured in a clash following a feud over formation of an Eidgah committee and leasing out of a local bazaar at village Jhaugara in Nandail upazila here early yesterday.
The victim was Ashraful Islam Farid, 20, a second year Fazil student at Achargoan Fazil Madrassa.
Quoting locals, Md Ataur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Nandail police station, said there had been a running dispute feud between the family of Farid and neighbour Abul Kalam over formation of Jhaugara Eidgah committee and leasing out of local Utla Bazaar.
Farid’s elder brother BCL leader Shafiqul Islam Masud was elected as the secretary of the eidgah committee on the day of Eid-ul-Azha that angered Kalam and his men.
The rivalry further developed after the bazaar was leased out to Kalam, said the OC.
Five killed by lightning

Five people were killed and another injured by lightning strikes in Munshiganj and Jessore districts yesterday noon and Friday night.
In Jessore, two people were killed and another was injured when a thunderbolt struck them amid rain at Daherpara village in Sadar upazila on Friday night.The deceased were Rashed Hossain, 30, and Ayub Hossain, 45, of the village.Abdur Rashid, medical officer of Jessore Medical College Hospital, said Rashed and Ayub died on the spot when Abdur Razzak, was injured as a thunderbolt struck them while they were returning to home amid rain at night.Besides, Bablur Rahman, a farmer of Jhapa village in Manirampur upazila, was killed by lightning on way to his home on Friday night.
UNB reports: In Munshiganj, Aktar, 35, and Jane Alam, 45, both hailing from Raypura village of Gazaria upazila of the district, were hit by a lightning strike while fishing yesterday noon, leaving them dead on the spot.
Four held over fraudulence
Magura: Police in separate drives arrested four people on charge of cheating unemployed young men out of money in the name of giving them job from different parts of Sreepur upazila on Friday, reports UNB
The arrestees were Shamim Ahmed, 32, Ziaur Rahman, 35, Saidur Rahman, 40, and Tushar Khan, 28. Following the complaint filed by some deception victims, police conducted separate drives in the upazila on Friday morning and arrested them.A case was filed in this connection.
