series on winning note

West Indies T20 captain Carlos Brathwaite on Sunday said that they are out to turn the things around after their back-to-back devastating losses in Test and ODI series against Bangladesh.

Brathwaite also said that it would not be easier for them to do that because they had to struggle against the local spinners throughout the tour on this condition. But he reminded that T20 is their most pet format of game, where they are reigning champions, so they will attempt their best to start the new series with winning note.

“The people back home deserve a Christmas gift. We hope to close out the year with a win," said Carlos Braithwaite.

"We still think T20 is our premier format. We obviously haven’t had the results to be in the recent past proud of," Braithwaite told media at the pre-match day press conference for the new T20 series at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium yesterday.

"But here’s a chance to turn things around and ending 2018 in a good way," he added.

Top-order batsman Evin Lewis along with Nicolas Pooran joined the Windies Twenty20 squad that gave them confidence in the dispirited West Indies' ranks ahead of the new T20 series what is considered their pet format.

“We think it's a plus for us. He is one of the better batsmen in the world. For the last 18 months or so, he has three T20I hundreds and also centuries in regional and franchise cricket all over the world. He is a definite plus for any team," the T20 captain said.

"It's a positive to have in our side. Hopefully he will deliver some big performances which will help us win the game and the series," he hoped.

“If you look back at the India series, we lost 3-0 but I think in the first and third games, we showed what West Indies cricket can bring to world cricket."

"The passion, belief and desire, firstly when defending a very small total and then taking the final game down to the final ball."

“If we are more professional how we do things, especially with the bat, that passion and hunger will take us over the line and not just close to the line. We want to find ways to win in a more consistent basis."
