Four killed in road accidents

Four people were killed in separate road accidents in Mymensingh and Noakhali yesterday.  Our Mymensingh correspondent reports: Two passengers of a CNG-run auto-rickshaw were killed and three others injured when their vehicle collided with a speeding bus on Mymensingh-Tangail road in sadar upazila yesterday afternoon. The victims were identified as Babul Sikder, 50, a jewellery businessman at Ganginarpar area of Mymensingh town and Hazrat Ali, 35, of Charbogra of Muktagacha upazila.Quoting local people, Kamrul Islam, officer-in-charge of Kotwali police station, said the accident took place at Maizbari Petrol Pump area when the auto-rickshaw collided with a Mymensingh bound bus, injuring five passengers of the auto-rickshaw at around 3.30 pm.
The injured persons were admitted at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where Babul and Hazrat Ali died.
Police have seized the vehicles.
Our Noakhali correspondent adds: Two children were killed in separate road accidents in Dagaonbhuiyan upazila of Feni yesterday. The deceased were identified as Hafiz, 7, and Puja Rani Das, 6. Witnesses said a truck hit Hafiz when he was crossing Dola Miah Cotton Mills area on Noakhali-Feni road at around 3pm, leaving him dead on the spot. Agitated people chased and caught its driver Kamal Hossain. Later, they handed him over to police. In another incident, a speeding truck ran over Puja Rani while she along with her mother was crossing road at Lalpur area in the upazila around 2pm, said Officer-in-Charge of Dagaonbhuiyan police station Aslam Uddin.
