Farouk Chowdhury, eldest son of Prof MI Chowdhury and Feroza Chowdhury, passed away at a city hospital on Friday. He breathed his last at United Hospital in Dhaka at 5:35pm. Born on January 5, 1949, Farouk Chowdhury excelled in teaching profession but focused on Economics as his field. He worked in the field of development at US AID, World Bank and The Asia Foundation. He taught at Dhaka University, McMaster University, the University of Western Ontario and Brac University and after that, he continued teaching at the National Defence College. Farouk Chowdhury left behind his wife Shabnam Chowdhury and his daughter Prima Chowdhury, sons Arvid Chowdhury and Radiv Chowdhury. He will be buried at Banani graveyard after his namaz-e-janaza at Gulshan Azad Mosque after asr prayers.
