Mia M Mansur Ali, a former BNP MP from Chuadanga-1 constituency, died at a hospital in the capital yesterday. He was 86, reports BSS. Mansur breathed his last at United Hospital while undergoing treatment, said a party press release. Party sources said the ex-MP had been suffering from various diseases relating to old age complications. BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia expressed deep shock at his death. In a condolence message, she recalled Mansur’s role in the country’s different democratic movements. “His contributions to consolidating democratic system in Bangladesh are undeniable.” The BNP chief prayed for salvation of the departed soul and conveyed her profound sympathy to the bereaved family members.
