Border Guard of Bangladesh (BGB) today said they arrested 406 people on different charges in frontiers across the country throughout September as part of its anti-crime campaign which also saw seizure of narcotics and smuggled goods worth Taka 74.43 crore, reports BSS.
In a statement the paramilitary force said during the period they also prevented infiltration of 355 Myanmar citizens and 240 Bangladeshis as they tried to cross borders with India or were returning home from the neighbouring country after an illegal visit there.
Another 166 people, it said, were arrested on smuggling charges while the time the anti-smuggling drive yielded seizure of 2,88,274 pieces of yaba tablet, 36,358 bottles of phensidyle, 590 kilogram ganja, 24,975 bottles of foreign made liquor, 66,886 pieces of different kinds of so-called sex stimulating tablets.
