A candidate in the admission test of Jahangirnagar University (JU) has been handed over to police alleging that he secured position in the merit list using proxy at the entry test. The detainee was identified as Jahid Hossian, hailed from Pabna who got chance in Journalism and Media Studies department under the faculty of Arts and Humanities of academic session 2018-19.
Source said, the detainee came to get admission at Journalism and Media Studies department where teachers of the department suspected him for the mismatched of hand writings and signature.
Later, they identified him after further interrogation at the department. Chairman of JMS department Uzzal Kumar Mandal said, ‘We suspected Jahid as his hand writings in answers scripts and the admission forms was mismatched. So, we took him for further interrogation and finally confirmed that someone took part at the intake test instead of him’.
However, Jahid confessed that that his friend Fahad attended in the admission as proxy instead of him with a deal of Tk 5 lakh.
A case was filed with the Ashulia Police Station in this connection.
