Youth jailed for harassing schoolgirl

A mobile court here on Thursday afternoon sentenced a young man to two-year imprisonment for harassing a schoolgirl. The mobile court, led by Abdullah Al Masud, Muladi Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), handed down the punishment to Sumon Sardar, 20, hailing from Char Kalekha of Muladi upazila of Barisal. Court sources said Sumon used to harass a girl, a student of class VIII of the Gachhua Abdul Kader School. On Thursday, guardians of the victim with help of the local people detained Sumon and brought him to Muladi UNO office and lodged allegation against him. Later, Muladi UNO formed a mobile court and examining statements and evidences against Sumon sentenced him to two-year imprisonment.
