Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, minister for home affairs, has said that closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras will be installed at all entry and exit points of the capital. Quoting the minister, the news agency, Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), added that the government has decided on the CCTV surveillance to ensure security. “CCTV cameras will be installed at all entrances, exit points, inter-sections and all important places in the capital with the objective of preventing crime and ensuring public safety. People will be under 24-hour surveillance,” Asaduzzaman said on Thursday. “The estimated cost for installing the cameras will be around Tk. 700-800 crore. We have decided to appoint a consultant for the project. The consultant will submit a report with recommendations,” he added.
