Hasina earns Tk 77 lakh, Khaleda Tk 1.52cr per yr

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina earns Tk 77 lakh annually while imprisoned BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s yearly income amounts to Tk 1.52 crore, according to the affidavits submitted to the Election Commission with their nomination papers.  The annual income of Awami League President Sheikh Hasina is over Tk 77 lakh, according to her affidavit submitted with the nomination paper to the Election Commission to contest the 11th parliamentary elections from Rangpur-6 constituency while the annual income of BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia is some Tk 1.52 crore, as per her affidavit submitted with the nomination paper to contest the 11th parliamentary elections from Bagura-6 constituency.

Of the income of the PM, Tk 3 lakh comes from agriculture sector while Tk 138,625 from rents of house/apartment/shop or others, Tk 1,696,009 from business (against royalty), Tk 1,200,000 from share, savings certificate/bank deposits, Tk 1,638,000 from the services (against honorarium) and Tk 2,776,760 from other sources. Following the affidavit, Sheikh Hasina has Tk 84,575 in cash while the amount of her deposited money with the bank and financial institutions is Tk 72,185,303 and the investment in different savings certificates and fixed deposits is Tk 500,000.

She has gold and other ornaments worth of Tk 1,325,000 and furniture worth of Tk 740,000.

After to the affidavit, the price of her six acres of arable land was Tk 778,000 while acquiring the land, while that of non-arable land was Tk 675,000 while acquiring. Sheikh Hasina's academic qualification is BA as mentioned in the affidavit. She is not currently accused in any case.

In contrary, of the annual income of BNP Chief Khaleda Zia, Tk 6,731,314 comes from rents of house/apartment/shops and others, while the rest Tk 85,09,813 from share, savings certificate/bank deposits.

She has only Tk 50,300 in cash and the amount of her deposited money in banks and financial institutions is Tk 47,785,267 as per the affidavit. The value of her jeep cars is Tk 4,865,000 and that of her electronic valuables is Tk 500,000 and furniture is Tk 260,000. Of the immovable assets, the BNP chairperson has some 8 decimals of non-arable land worth of Tk 12,300 while she is the owner of one-thirds of a Gulshan house worth Tk 100.

She has a house in cantonment and its value is Tk 5, but the cantonment house is not under her grip. Currently, Khaleda is accused in 34 cases. Of the cases, appeal is now pending with the High Court in two cases while two other cases are pending with Special Judge Court and Special Tribunal.

The BNP chairperson has liability in house rent of Tk 15,800,000. Khaleda mentioned 'self-educated' as her academic qualification in the affidavit.
