All doubts over the participation of Mashrafe Bin Mortaza and Tamim in the three-match ODI series against West Indies looked diminished after Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) included them in the practice game against visiting West Indies.
The participation of Mashrafe was in doubt due to his willingness to take part in the upcoming National Parliamentary Election while Tamim Iqbal was in rehab following his side strain.
However, the BCB yesterday announced Bangladesh one-day captain Mashrafe will lead the BCB XI in the practice match against the West Indies at BKSP Cricket Ground 3 on December 6.
Meanwhile Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal said on Saturday that he is all set to return to international cricket with the upcoming ODI series against West Indies.
Tamim, who was looking forward to feature in the series against West Indies from the beginning, had to delay his return as he sustained a side strain while having an individual training on November 13.
‘’If everything goes well I should be available from the beginning of the ODI’s against West Indies,’’ Tamim told reporters on the academy premises yesterday.
‘’But before that I am looking forward to play the practice game at BKSP,’’ he added pointing his finger for practice match scheduled on December 6. During the lunch break of the second day the whole coaching staff headed by Steve Rhodes came down to the academy ground to see the development of Tamim.
In a bid to stage his much-awaiting comeback, the hard-hitting opener began his full-fledged batting practice at the BCB-National Cricket Academy (NCA) ground in Mirpur since Friday after being recuperated from injury. He batted against young leg-spinner Rishad Hossain and Jubair Hossain Likhon at net since a longer period but he could not cope with the flight and bounce of the Rishad deliveries so easy what he could have played Likhon.
Squad: Mashrafe Bin Mortaza (captain), Tamim Iqbal, Imrul Kayes, Soumya Sarker, Mohammad Mithun, Tawhid Riday, Ariful Hoque, Akbar Ali, Rubel Hossain, Mithun Joy, Shahin Alam, Medidy Hasan Rana, Nazmul Islam Apu.
