West Indies leg-spinner Jomel Warrican said that they are eyeing to bounce back in the series-deciding Test in Dhaka against hosts Bangladesh despite being stayed at shaky situation.
West Indies slumped to 29-5 from where they finished the second day at 75-5 without any further trouble in response to Bangladesh’s comprehensive first innings 508.
Overnight batsman pair-Shimron Hetmyer and Shane Dowrich- looked well-set and sublime against the local spinners that gave them hopes of staging a comeback in the game.
“That’s the plan (to play till the next four days). We gotta come tomorrow, bat well,” said Jomel Warrican.
“Hopefully Hetmyer and Shane Dowrich can get a big score because they look very good batting and take it into the fourth day,” Warrican told media after second day game at post-match press conference in Mirpur yesterday.
“It’s not an ideal position we want to be in as a team, after fielding for so long. And not bowling Bangladesh out for a good total, you want to be in a better position. A bit disappointed for the team but we’ve got to come back tomorrow and bounce back.” “Obviously it’s a day two wicket coming on to the end of play. When Bangladesh batted it was a Day 1 wicket and much better. Also we didn’t play well ourselves and bat good enough.”
St. Vincent-born Warrican said that they had to toil hard to pick wickets of the tailenders that suffered much in the long run. “In both first innings in both Tests I guess we struggled to get wickets of the tailenders quickly enough and it comes back to haunt us,” he noted.
