Tk 47 crore uplift projects being implemented

Health Engineering Department (HED) implemented 16 development schemes involving around Taka 46.68 crore in Rajshahi district in last around ten years.

Meer Abdul Hannan, Executive Engineer of HED, here said implementation works of five other projects are progressing fast with an estimated cost of around Taka 15.95 crore in the district at present.

He added four Union Health and Family Welfare Centres (UH&FWCs) were constructed newly while upgradation, repairing and renovation works of nine other UH&FWCs were completed.

In addition to construction of a 100-bed diabetic hospital, construction works of remodeling of isolation suit and ward in Rajshahi Medical College Hospital and an EPI store were accomplished in Rajshahi city.

Twenty-eight community clinics (CCs) were built with upgrading six Upazila Health Complexes to fifty beds from 31 beds.

Works of remodeling, renovation and vertical extension of existing family planning store building at Charghat Upazila were completed successfully.  Upazila Health Complex at Bagha has been expanded.

Sixty-five per cent construction works of Family Planning Offices for Deputy Director and Divisional Director in Rajshahi has, so far, been completed.

Construction works of Maria UH&FWC is progressing fast while another project of reconstructing Tanore Upazila Health Complex is going to be implemented with an estimated cost of around Taka 8.98 crore.

Engineer Hannan said that the implemented projects have started contributing enormously to raising standard of health services in both rural and urban areas.

Hasanuzzaman Madhu, Chairman of Sardaha Union Parishad under Charghat Upazila, said many people are getting physicians’ advice, health services and necessary medicines from the rural level hospitals and clinics including community clinics without hassle.

The UH&FWCs and CCs have attained trusts of grassroots people as they are getting necessary primary and reproductive healthcare services regularly at their doorsteps in the rural areas, he said.
