Bangladesh top-order batsman Mominul Haque along with Jonny Bairstow of England and Yasir Shah of Pakistan made impressive gains in the latest MRF Tyres ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings following match-winning contributions in their respective side’s convincing victories recently.
Mominul’s 120 and 12 was the cornerstone of Bangladesh’s 64-run victory over visiting West Indies in Chattogram and led the two-Test series 1-0.
Bairstow slammed 110 and 15 as England thrashed Sri Lanka by 42 runs in Colombo, while Yasir recorded match figures of 14 for 184 as Pakistan bounced back in Dubai to level the series with New Zealand following an innings and 16 runs victory.
The diminutive Bangladesh batsman moved up 11 places to make his career-best rankings in ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings but missed to break into top-20. Currently no Bangladesh batsman is in the top-20. Mominul is now placed 24th.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim, who produced a possibility of entering into the elite-20, nosedived three places from 21st place.
But Taijul Islam among Bagladesh bowlers moved up in the bowlers’ table. Taijul jumped six places to ensure his career-high 21st position.

Mominul Haque reckoned Bangladesh have the psychological edge over West Indies because of winning the first game and given their good track record at the home condition, which he thought would help them…
