Jatiya Oiskyafront top leader Dr Kamal Hossain is not going to participate in the 11th parliamentary elections. His daughter Barrister Sara Hossain will also follow suit.
"Sir (Kamal) is not going to join the election as his physical condition is not well. Barrister Sara is also not going to take part in the polls on personal grounds," Gana Forum executive president Subrata Chowdhury said yesterday.
He, however, said Dr Kamal Hossain will be involved in electioneering in favour of the Jatiya Oikyafront. "Sir said he would work for the alliance and keep necessary contributions to ensuring its victory in the election."
Subrata Chowdhury said he submitted nomination paper to the returning officer to contest the polls from Dhaka-6 constituency while their general secretary Mostafa Mohsin Montu from Dhaka-2, Dhaka-3 and Dhaka-9 parliamentary seats.
He said many of their party leaders also initially submitted nomination papers in many seats across the country as they still could not settle the issue of seat sharing with BNP. “We’ll soon settle the issue.”
