Two suspected drug traders and a listed pirate were killed in separate gunfights with members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in Teknaf upazila early yesterday. Two suspected drug traders Jahangir Kudrat, 32, son of Md Abdul Hakim, hailing from Mymensingh district and Md Arif Hossain, 30, son of Abdul Barek, hailing from Munshiganj, were killed in the reported with Rab in Keruntoli area.
A team of Rab signaled a Cox's-Bazar bound truck to stop at a check post on Cox's Bazar-Teknaf road, the criminals from inside the vehicle opened fire on them, said Lieutenant Mirza Shahed of Rab-7 Teknaf office. For self-defense, the elite force members retaliated that triggered the gunfight.
After the gunfight, the Rab members recovered two badies from the truck and one lakh pieces of Yaba tablet, two locally made arms and eight round bullets.
