Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will announce the final squad of the Bangladesh Under-23 cricket team for the upcoming ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup-2018.
With the help of the BCB selection panel, the Board meanwhile prepared a preliminary squad which will be whittled down after getting the green signal from the government.
The BCB on Tuesday sent letter to the government seeking its order (GO) what BCB expects will be got within two days.
Even though the final squad will be declared, all the players will be busy in the Bangladesh Premier League (BCL), the players who will be released on December 1 after the conclusion of the second-round fixture of the BCL.
“Our team will take part in the Emerging Teams Asia Cup. Our first round games have been orgainsed in Pakistan. Basically the tournament is being hosted by two countries-Pakistan and Sri Lanka,” BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury Shujan.
“Our group phase matches are been fallen in Pakistan. We’re taking our preparation in that way. We hope our team will travel to Pakistan in the first week of the December,” Shujan told the media. Champaka Ramanayke, the fast bowling coach of High Performance team, will accompany the team as coach. .
It is learnt from the BCB source that players were asked to report on December 2 to join the team. Therefore, they will hold a two-day practice at the BCB-National Cricket Academy (NCA) Ground. They will board on flight in the early hour of December 4 to play their group phase matches in Karachi, Pakistan.
Bangladesh are drawn Group B with Pakistan, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Hong Kong, while Group B comprises of India, Sri Lanka, Oman and Afghanistan.
Test playing nation could send four players from the national team whose age will be above 23 years and others will be under-23. And ICC associated could send their full-fledged national team. Bangladesh will face off UAE in their Group-B fixture on the opening day at the Karachi Development Authority Sports Ground in Karachi on December 6.
They will take on Hong Kong in the Group-B second match at the same ground in the next day.
They will compete against the co-host Pakistan at the NSK in Karachi on December 9.
Top two teams from each group will progress to the semifinals that will be started at RPICS and CCC in Colombo on December 13.
The final will be held between the winners of the semifinals, slated to take place at the RPICS in Colombo on December 15.
