Newborn found alive inside a bag

A new born baby boy was recovered from a bag left in front of a house at Shamibag in the capital's Gendaria area on Friday.
A local woman Romana Akhter found that an infant was moving inside the bag in the morning and took it to the Pediatric Ward of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), said Sub-inspector Bacchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH Police outpost. The baby was admitted to the Pediatric Ward, the SI said quoting the duty doctor of the unit, adding that the baby has injury marks in his head.
Woman held with yaba tablets

Police arrested a woman with 1,400 pieces of yaba tablets in Bashari area under Kasiadanga Police Station in the city yesterday.
The arrested was identified as Rahima Khatun, 25, of the nearby Guripara area. On a tip-off, a police team conducted a sudden raid in the area and nabbed her with the contraband item. Quoting her confessional statement police said she was involved in the yaba trafficking and trading activities for long time.
10 hurt in clash over land
UNB, Rangpur
At least 10 people were injured in a clash between two groups of indigenous people over a piece of disputed land at Baldipakur Balapara village in Mithapakur upazila on Friday Morning.
Six people with arrow injuries were admitted to Mithapakur Upazila Health Complex and the Rangpur Medical College Hospital for treatment, said Ashequre Rahman, officer-in-charge of Mithapakur Police Station.
Police and locals said there had been longstanding enmity between Shukendra Kuzur and his nephew Nanda Kuzur over the ownership of a piece of land.
Akhtaruzzaman Chowdhury dies

Akhtaruzzaman Chowdhury, Retd DGM Janata Bank and eldest son of late secretary Gouharuzzaman Chowdhury, died on Wednesday at a hospital in the capital.
He was suffering from chronic kidney disease, says a press release.
He left behind his wife, one son, two daughters and host of relatives and friends to mourn his death. Doa mahfil will be held today (November 18) after Magrib prayer at his residence (House-85, Rd 12/A, Oriental Palace, Dhanmondi, Dhaka).
