Awami League joint general secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif yesterday said Jatiya Oikyafront leader Dr Kamal Hossain has joined hands with BNP and Jamaat for becoming the president of the country.
“He has joined hands with BNP-Jamaat, terrorists and convicted criminals for becoming the president. He has indulged himself in a dream to become the president,” he said.
Hanif came up with the observations while addressing a function organised to unveil the cover of a book titled ‘Bangabandhu-Bangladesh Ek O Avinno’ at VIP Lounge of National Press Club yesterday afternoon.
“One journalist on Friday asked Oikyafront leaders who would be their prime minister if they come to power. They said they will decide that later and time will determine that. They are feeling shy to answer the question. They know if they become winner, they have to make Tarique Rahman, who was sentenced to life imprisonment in August 21 grenade attack case, the prime minister,” Hanif said.
Expressing his surprise over the mum kept by Jatiya Oikyafront leaders after the mayhem carried out by BNP leaders and activists in capital’s Naya Paltan on Wednesday, where two vehicles of police were set ablaze and several others were damaged, Hanif further said, it proved that although Dr Kamal Hossain is the leader of the platform, all the mechanisms are being controlled from London.
The function was presided over by Sabujbagh thana Awami League general secretary Lion Chittaranjan Das.
