Clinic owner lands in jail

A mobile court here on Friday sentenced a clinic owner to three months jail for conducting cesarean section without any doctor and nurse at his clinic in Kotalipara upazila.
The convict was identified as Deshbandhu Biswas, 50, owner of Shantilata Clinic and Diagnostic Centre.
Mohammad Kamrul Faruk, officer-in-charge of Kotalipara Police Station, said Bithi Halder, wife of Bidhan Halder of Pirarbari village, was admitted to the clinic on November 9 following her labour pain. Deshbandhu conducted the operation and Bithi was later admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital as her condition deteriorated. Following a written complaint submitted by the victims family, a mobile court, led by Upazila Nirbahi Officer ASM Mahfuzur Rahman conducted a drive at the clinic and found that the operation was conducted without any doctor and nurse.
Man found dead in Coxs Bazar

Police recovered the body of an unidentified man from the BSCIC building in Kalarmarchhara of Maheshkhali upazila yesterday morning. The age of the deceased is around 50.
Md Shahjahan, in-charge of Kalarmarchhara police outpost, said being informed by locals, a team of police recovered the body from the 1st floor of the building.
3 hurt in Jashore bomb attack

Three people, including a Juba League leader, were injured in a bomb attack in front of a park in Sharsha upazila on Friday night.
The injured were identified as Shariful Islam Pipul, 42, joint general secretary of Ulashi union Juba League, his associate Abdul Wahab, 35, and van-puller Abu Kashem, 34. M Moshiur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sharsha Police Station, said a gang of miscreants hurled two crude bombs at a van when Pipul along with Wahab was returning home from Mirzapur around 9:30am, leaving the trio injured.
The injured were admitted to Jashore General Hospital.
Man dies in Jashore road crash

A man was killed in a road accident while saving a child by pushing him out of path of an oncoming ambulance on Navaran-Satkhira highway at Satmail in Sharsha upazila on Friday. The deceased was identified as Hussain Ali, 40, a resident of the area and a businessman.
Victims brother Zahidul said the accident took place at noon when his brother was trying to save a child from being hit by a speeding ambulance but sustained injuries.
Locals took him to a nearby clinic from where he was transferred to Jashore General Hospital as his condition deteriorated, but succumbed to his injuries around 05:10 pm, said Dr Rahitosh Das, a physician of the hospital.
Son surrenders after killing father

An addicted man surrendered before police after stabbing dead his father for refusing to give him money for drug in Uttar Ichali village of Sadar Upazila on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Musa Gazi, 65, of the village. Hossain Gazi, son of the victim, stabbed his father indiscriminately while he was sleeping in his room at 8:30 am and soon fled away, according to family sources. Hearing the screams of the victim, family members rushed in and took the injured to Chandpur Sadar Hospital from where he was referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Musa Gazi, however, died on the way to Dhaka, said Ibrahim Khalil, officer-in-charge of Chandpur Model Police Station. Later, the killer son surrendered to the police station, he said. Meanwhile, the victims elder son Alam Gazi claimed that Hossain has been undergoing treatment for long as he became mentally impaired for taking drugs for long time.
