AL leader’s body found

Police recovered the throat-slit body of a local Awami League leader from a paddy field in Kanchanpur village of Adamdighi upazila yesterday.

The deceased was identified as Nazrul Islam, 55, publicity secretary of Chapapur Union Awami League Unit and of Mandirpur village in the upazila.

Quoting family members, police said Nazrul went to Chapapur Market on Friday evening, but did not return home. Later, locals spotted Nazrul's body in a paddy field around 11 am and informed it to police. Police recovered the body  and sent it to hospital morgue for an autopsy, said Monirul Islam, OC  of Adamdighi Police Station.
