Jatiya Party (JaPa) yesterday started selling nomination forms to aspirant candidates for the 11th parliamentary election on December 23. JaPa chairman HM Ershad kicked off the programme at Emmanuelle’s Convention Centre in the city by buying forms for three parliamentary constituencies—Dhaka–17, Satkhira–4 and Rangpur–3. Opposition leader in Parliament, Roushan Ershad, bought a form for the Mymensingh Sadar constituency and JaPa co-chairman GM Kader for Lalmonirhat–3. JaPa secretary general ABM Ruhul Amin Hawlader bought two forms for Patuakhali–1 and 4 constituencies.
Besides, many more aspirants came to the venue with party activists and supporters to buy the nomination forms. “I'm delighted to see the enthusiasm among party leaders and workers centring the national poll. We have fixed the price of a nomination form at Tk 20,000. I am seeking your cooperation and you all should buy the forms,” Ershad said after inaugurating the form-selling ceremony.
JaPa’s journey has started by selling of nomination forms and it will end after assumption of power post-polls, Ershad said. “JaPa has gone through various obstacles. We’re ready to take over state power by winning this election,” he added. Raushan and Hawlader, among others, also spoke on the occasion.
JaPa presidium member Syed Abu Hossain Babla bought a form for the Dhaka–4, Kazi Firoz Rashid for Dhaka–6, SM Faisal Chisti for Dhaka–11 and Shafiqul Islam Sentu for Dhaka–13.
Besides, senior JaPa leaders like Fakhrul Imam, Salma Islam, Moshiur Rahman Ranga, Shunil Shuvo Roy, Syed Abdul Mannan, Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu, Maj (Retd) Khaled Akhter, Liaqat Hossain Khoka and Jahirul Alam Rubel also bought nomination forms.
The party will continue selling nomination forms till November 13 from 10 am to 5 pm. The JaPa parliamentary board, led by party chairman Ershad, will begin interviewing the candidates from November 14.
As per the election schedule, the last date for submission of nomination papers is November 19 and last date for withdrawal is November 29.
