Bangladesh Air Force Base Bangabandhu clinched the Inter Base Athletics competition-2018 of Bangladesh Air Force which concluded at BAF Base Bangabandhu sports ground, Kurmitola in the capital on Thursday, according to an ISPR press release.
The champions won 7 gold, 6 silver and 6 bronze medals while Bangladesh Air Force Base Bashar team became runners-up with 6 gold, 6 silver and 6 bronze medals.
AC Nazmul of Bangladesh Air Force Base Bangabandhu team was adjudged the best athlete of the competition.
Meanwhile, BAF Base Bir Shreshtho Matiur Rahman team became overall champions in different competition held in 2017 and 2018.
On the closing day AC Nazmul of BAF Base Bangabandhu won gold medal in 100 metre sprint and BAF Base Zahurul Haque team won gold in 4x100 metre relay.
Acting Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal M Sanaul Huq, OSP, GUP, ndc, psc witnessed the final day’s events as chief guest and distributed medals and trophies among the winners.
Earlier, the competition was inaugurated by Air Officer Commanding of Bangladesh Air Force Base Bangabandhu Air Vice Marshal M Sayed Hossain, BSP, GUP, ndc, psc on Tuesday at the same ground. Among others, senior BAF officers, Airmen and MODC were present on the occasion.
