3 held with yaba in city

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) members recovered 10,000 contraband yaba pills and arrested three alleged drug traders from the capital's Mohammadpur Townhall kitchen market area on Thursday evening.

The arrestees are Belal Daria, 26, Alamgir Hossain, 23, and Mahbubur Rahman, 24.

Based on a secret information, a team of Rab-2 battalion conducted a drive at Mohammadpur Townhall kitchen market at 6:15 pm. Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the trio tried to flee, said Assistant Director (Media) of the Rab-2 ASP Saiful Malik.

They chased the drug traders and caught them. After interrogation, the elite force recovered the yaba tablets from their possessions.

During preliminary interrogation, they revealed that they usually bring the contraband item from Cox's Bazar and then supply those to different areas in the capital, he said.
