A schoolgirl was stabbed by a young man at her house in the capital's Motijheel AGB Colony on Thursday. The injured was Joya Mandal, 15, daughter of Anti-Corruption Commission Inspector Gopal Chandra Mandal and a Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinee from Motijheel Ideal School and College.
Omar Faruque, officer-in-charge of Motijheel Police Station, said a youth namely Habib, , aged about 30, stormed the girl's residence at a four-storey building around 3pm when she was alone at the house and stabbed her in the head. Hearing her screams, locals rushed in, caught Habib and handed him over to police after giving him a good beating.
The injured youth was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital under custody. However, the reason behind the attack could not be known yet.
