Man jailed for harassing minor in B’baria

A mobile court on Thursday sentenced a man to one-year imprisonment for sexually harassing a five-year-old girl in Kasba upazila of the district.

The convict was identified as Swapan Miah, 40, son of Wahed Miah of Kuti village of the upazila.

Officer-in-charge of Kasba Police Station Md Abdul Malek said Swapan assaulted the girl when she went a local tea shop.

Locals caught him and produced him before the mobile court, led by Executive Magistrate and Kasba upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Zobaida Akhter, which handed down the sentence.
