Three national professors honoured at BUET
Professor Jamilur Reza Choudhury, Professor Anisuzzaman and Professor Rafiqul Islam, who were appointed as national professors by Bangladesh government in 2018, were honoured at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) for their outstanding contribution in the education sector. BUET Teachers’ Association and BUET Alumni Association jointly organised a warm reception programme on Thursday evening at BUET Central Auditorium, said a BUET press release.
President of BUET Teachers’ Association Prof AKM Masud gave the welcome speech in the programme. Prof Shamsuzzaman Khan, Bangabandhu Chair at Islamic University, Kushtia presented the keynote on ‘Our Time: Education, Culture And Recent Thoughts’.
Prof Syed Azizul Haque of Department of Bangla at Dhaka University; Poet Muhammad Nurul Huda and Prof MH Khan, Ex Vice-Chancellor of BUET, gave speech on the distinguished National Professors. Secretary General of BUET Alumni Association Dr Sadiqul Islam Bhuyan gave the closing speech in the programme.
UIU ranked top private university in QS rankings
United International University (UIU) has been ranked among top 350 universities in Asia, according to the list of QS Asia University Ranking 2019.
Only two public and four private universities from Bangladesh have been ranked where Dhaka University and BUET have occupied 127th and 175th position respectively, said a press released by the UIU on Wednesday. UIU along with BRACU and NSU has been placed in top 301-350 universities. QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) ranking is the most prestigious and widely accepted ranking in the educational World. UIU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Chowdhury Mofizur Rahman expressed satisfaction over the achievement of UIU.
KUET admission test today
KHULNA: At least 10 aspirants will vie for a seat during the admission test of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) for the first years honours courses of BSC Engineering and Rural and Urban Planning of Bangladesh (BRUP). The test will be held today (October 27) from 10am to 12.30 pm. A total of 10,730 candidates applied against 1,065 seats in 16 Department under three Faculties, said a press release.
The admission test will be held in five centres including one in the campus of the university. The other four centers are Teachers Training College (TTC), Higher Secondary Teachers Training Institute (HSTTI), Govt Technical Training Centre (Male) and Govt. Technical Training Centre (Female). The detail information will be available at KUET website (www.admission.kuet.ac.bd).
RU publishes ‘C unit’ entry test result
RAJSHAHI: Admission test result of ‘C unit (Science and Engineering Faculties)’ for first year honours courses of Rajshahi University (RU) under its 2018-19 academic session were published here last night. A notice to this effect was published accordingly on the varsity website- http://admission.ru.ac.bd/undergraduate.
The notice asked the admission aspirant students in science stream to fill up their respective subject choice list in online from November 5 to 15. If any student fails to fill-up their choice list within the stipulated time his or her admission eligibility will be cancelled.
