Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed yesterday said the government will approve a Taka 600 crore project financed by the Netherlands soon to protect Bhola district from erosion of Meghna River, reports BSS from Bhola. “The government will protect Bhola district from river erosion at any cost,” he said after visiting the erosion hit Elish and Rajapur unions of the district here. The minister said geo-bags and geo-tubes have already been dumped at banks of the river to check the erosion. Earlier, inhabitants of the two unions formed a human chain demanding protect the district from the erosion at Elisha bazaar on the Bhola-Lokhipur highway.
