A two day long training session was held in Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), aimed at disseminating information about ‘Early Intervention and Home Management’ for the parents of the children with autism and the training programme was arranged by Institute of Paediatric Neurodisorder and Autism (IPNA).
The two day long training initiative was inaugurated by Professor Dr Kamrul Hasan Khan, Honourable Vice Chancellor of BSMMU. Among other dignitaries present at the session were Prof Dr Shahidullah Sikder, Pro Vice Chancellor and Prof Habibur Rahman Dulal, Proctor of BSMMU. Project Director of IPNA Prof Dr Shaheen Akhter was also present at the occasion, along with eminent Paediatric Neurologist Prof Dr Mizanur Rahman.
Professor Dr Kamrul Hassan started proceedings by expressing his gratitude towards Honourable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her daughter, renowned school psychologist and autism expert Saima Wazed Hussain for their invaluable contribution in the field of autism management in Bangladesh.
Through the efforts of all stakeholders, people in Bangladesh treat autistic people with greater compassion and respect.
He promised to stand by the multitude of parents in our country, who are working relentlessly to cater the needs of their autistic children.
Guardians present at the meet were taught more up to date and scientific techniques in child care and demonstrations on stress management were also made before parents of the autistic children.
Literature and provisions to enhance the learning experience of parents and care givers were distributed towards the end of the meet.
