‘Hundi’ trader held with Tk 13 lakh

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested a Hundi trader along with Tk 13 lakh from Uttarpara in Putkhali bordering area here on Tuesday.
The arrestee was identified as Rony Ahmed, 36, son of Abul Kashem of Uttarpara village.
Tipped off, a team of BGB conducted a drive in Khalsi area and arrested Rony along with the money, said Lieutenant Colonel Imran Ullah of BGB-21, Khulna.
A motorcycle was also seized during the drive.
Later, the arrestee was handed over to Benapole Port Police Station, he added.
Seven flood shelters to be constructed in Gaibandha
GAIBANDHA: The government has taken a decision to construct seven flood shelters cum primary schools in Sundarganj, Fulchhari, Shaghata and Sadullapur upazilas of the district during the current fiscal year, reports BSS.
Official sources said the flood shelters cum primary schools would be constructed at Char Kapasia Govt. Primary School (GPS) and Bekrirchar GPS under Sundarganj upazila, Sayeedpur, Gunvory and Dakkin Burail GPSs under Fulchhari upazila, Chinirpatal GPS under Shaghata upazila and Bashir Nagar GPS under Sadullapur upazila of the district.
Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) would implement the project under Primary Education Development Programme.
LGED Executive Engineer Abdur Rahim Shaikh said necessary measures have been adopted to launch the construction work on the flood shelters cum primary schools.
‘Mugger’ caught by angry mob
Jashore: A suspected mugger was caught by angry mob while snatching money from a school teacher at DC Banglo area of the city on Tuesday, reports UNB.
The locals handed the man to police after giving him a mass beating, witnesses said.
The detainee was identified as Raju Hossain, 30, son of Abdur Razzak of Dargapara area in Boalia thana of Rajshahi.
The victim school teacher, Tostifen Saraj Mandal said he was waiting for a rickshaw after withdrawing Tk 1,00,000 from a savings certificate at DC Banglo area while 3-4 men snatched his money.
Three arrested for rape of housewife, schoolgirl

The police have recently arrested three persons for raping a housewife and a schoolgirl of Class IX in two separate incidents from the district.
The arrested persons are: Hiron Akon Hiru, 27, Moshiur Gazi, 22 and Al Mahmud Rabbi, 19. Two separate cases were lodged in Patuakhali Sadar police station and Kalapara police station in this connection. Patuakhali Detective Branch (DB) sub-inspector Jafrul Hasan said they came to know that a girl was brought to Hathalia Bada Ghat area from Jain Kathi.
On Monday, they conducted an operation in the area. At that time, they rescued a teenage girl atuakhali Government Girls' School from Bashir Gazi's house in Hetalia Bada Ghat area. They also arrested Hiron Akon Hiru and Moshiur Gazi from from the house on charges of rape. Patuakhali DB offiver-in-charge Khandaker Zakir Hossain said the father of the girl filed a rape case with Patuakhali police station. The girl was sent to Patuakhali Medical College Hospital for medical examination.
The police are investigating whether others are involved in this incident. On the other hand, Kalapara thana police sources said a youth, Al Mahmud Rabbi, had raped a housewife in Kalapara municipal area on the night of October 14. At that time, she was alone in her house.
On October 22, the victim's husband filed a case with Kalapara police station in this connection. Rabbi was arrested from Rajopara village in Kalapara around 8 pm.
Biplob Mistri, sub-inspector of Kalapara police station, said Rabbi was produced before the Kalapara senior judicial magistrate's court yesterday.
