Greeting the country’s people on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, BNP chairperson Khaleda feared that people are unlikely to be able to properly enjoy the festival due to the ‘prevailing anarchic situation’ in the country, reports UNB. In a message marking the Eid, she said, “An alarming anarchic situation has been prevailing in the country as there’s no security of people and their property. Under the circumstances, it won’t be possible for all to enjoy the Eid properly.” The BNP chief observed that the poor and low-income people have been going through immense sufferings for unbridled price hike. She urged the country’s well-off section of society to extend their helping hands and sympathy to the poor and destitute. “We all should be careful so that no one remains unfed on the Eid day. We have to share the joy of Eid together.” Khaleda prayed to the Almighty Allah so that the Eid brings happiness, peace and prosperity in everybody’s life and creates religious harmony in society. Mentioning that devoting to the welfare of humankind shunning jealousy, conflict and voracity is the teaching of Qurbani (sacrificing animal), she said, “I greet the Muslims in Bangladesh and elsewhere in the world on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha and wish them Eid Mubarak.” Meanwhile, Khaleda Zia has celebrated the Eid festival with her family members
for the first time in nearly eight years.
Khaleda, now in London, celebrated the Eid with her eldest son Tarique and his family members, and wife and two daughters of her late son Arafat Rahman Koko. On September 15, the BNP chairperson went to London on for her eye treatment and celebrating Eid-ul-Azha there with her family members. Khaleda had been celebrating Eid festivals alone in the country since 2008 as her two sons and their family members had been staying abroad. However, Koko died in Malaysia on January 24 this year.
