The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Shipping Ministry yesterday recommended making a master plan under a special project for the socio-economic development of the people living on the banks of the Chitra river, reports BSS. The committee came up with the recommendation at its 59th meeting held at Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Bhaban with its chairman Major (Retd) Rafiqul Islam Bir Uttam in the chair, an official release said. The committee also recommended the ministry to procure all kinds of required ships under Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC). The meeting discussed the activities, problems and future plan of the Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) and the overall activities of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) and BSC in detail.
