The High Court yesterday granted anticipatory bail to Ganashasthya Kendra founder Dr ZafrullahChowdhury in two cases filed in Savar on charges of grabbing a land and demanding extortion, reports UNB. An HC bench of Justice Muhammad Abdul Hafiz and Justice MohiUddin Shamim passed the order when Dr Zafrullah appeared before the court and sought bail. Senior lawyer Advocate Zainul Abedin said the High Court granted bail to Dr Zafarullah till submission of police report in the cases.
Earlier on October 19, Hasan Imam, a resident of Savar, filed the cases against Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury with Ashulia Police Station on charges of occupying a land and demanding extortion. Mohammad Ali, a resident of Harirampur upazila in Manikganj, filed another case accusing Zafrullah and three others with the same police station allegedly for attempting to grab a piece of land and demanding extortion on October 15.
