The 23rd session of the current parliament that began at 4:45pm yesterday will continue till October 25, reports UNB. The decision came at a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) of the current parliament held at the Jatiya Sangsad yesterday. Committee Chairman and Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury presided over the meeting.
The session will start at 4:15pm on each working day.The meeting also decided that the Speaker may extend or reduce the working days of the current session.
Leader of the House and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Opposition Leader Raushon Ershad, Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, Deputy Speaker Fazle Rabbi Miah, Social Welfare Minister Rashed Khan Menon, Chief Whip ASM Firoz and Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq and Moin Uddin Khan Badal attended the meeting.
This session is likely to be the last session of the 10th parliament as there is no obligation to summon any session of parliament during the national election according to the constitution. The Election Commission has already said it will declare the schedule for the 11th national election any day after October. The 10th parliament went into its maiden session on January 29, 2014.
