A low pressure is expected to build up in the Andaman Sea of the Bay of Bengal in a few days’ time, possibly by Monday. It may intensify into a cyclonic storm, the weather office said yesterday (Thursday). “We’re observing a lot of wind circulation in that part of the Bay, which is the traditional brewing ground of post-monsoon cyclones,” a weatherman said. Cyclones are generally formed in the Bay in the beginning of October.
“We’ve witnessed one earlier this month that resulted in slight rain in Bangladesh. This time, another such storm may trigger rain and bring a whiff of cool weather as part of the seasonal transition,” he added. Dry weather has already started prevailing in the country. There was no rain on Wednesday, leaving the country dry with a mixture of cool and warm weather—especially in the northern region where temperatures, after falling steadily for the past few days, went up by 1C on Wednesday. This was due to a high pressure ridge over the area and the North Bay along with the trough of a low there.
