Cyclone Titli aftermath

Dry weather to prevail for next couple of days

Special Correspondent

After causing havoc in India’s Odisha district on Thursday, Cyclone Titli turned into a depression over Gangetic West Bengal. After that, it became a well-marked low, changed into a low pressure and eventually fizzled out over the Bay, causing overnight rain across Bangladesh.  The rain ceased early yesterday, leaving the air cool and providing a wintry touch. But the winter still remains a couple of months away. However, the chill would become palpable from late November.

Cyclone Titli triggered good rainfall, bringing smiles back to Aman farmers, who were looking for good showers to avoid the use of agricultural pumps to water their fields.  Meteorologists say there would be no rain in the next two three days, making room for a dry weather to prevail over the country. There could be some rain at few places in Chattogram division and at one or two places in the Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal and Sylhet divisions today (Monday).

The weather is likely to remain mainly dry with a partly cloudy sky elsewhere in the country.  As Cyclone Titli petered out, the country’s highest rainfall of 69mm was recorded in Netrokona.
