Saif Sporting Club, who finished fourth in last year’s Bangladesh Premier League, completed their players registration yesterday.
This time they formed a very strong team with eyeing to win all the domestic trophies. Saif performed their players transfer registration for the coming season when they signed up 32 players including four foreign booters.
Only the secretary of the Saif Sporting and the captain Jamal Bhuiyan accompanied by some 300 supporters and their junior team’s player came at the BFF Bhaban to complete the papers work of the players’ registration.
However, the Saif Sporting who made their debut in the Professional Football League last season with huge budget and high ambition to win all the titles but failed to cross the group stage of the Federation Cup and the Independence Cup and could manage fourth place in the league. They had only credits to play in the AFC Cup but could not cross preliminary round when they suffered defeat to TC Sports Club of Maldives in the both home and away matches.
Jamal Bhuiyan, about their debut season said, “Actually the first season is always come hard for every team, so last year was our learning time, we learned a lot, we did some mistakes, there was also disappointment in the AFC Cup, hope this year we will overcome the mistakes and will do well, there would be no excuse.”
However, this time also they are looking forward to win the titles of the tournaments and the league, though they have a very little change in the players’ list but to include some fresh bloods.
Among their noted players captain Jamal Bhuiyan, Jafar Iqbal, Jabed Khan, Rahmat Meah are four national colours and Al Amin, Shahidul Alam Shahed, Kabirul Islam, Nasirul Islam Nasir are the premier performers of last season while goalkeeper Ziaur Rahman Zia is also an experienced player in the 32 member list. Jamal Bhuiyan, who talked to the reporters before completing the registration formalities said, “Expectation is high to win the trophies of domestic competition and obviously the league title.”
Later Sheikh Russell Krira Chakra and Muktijoddha Krira Sangsad also registered their players for the upcoming season. Russell registered 30 players, while Muktijoddha completed registration of 32 players.
