The 39th death anniversary of Mukundalal Sarker, a prominent leader of anti-British movement and a 1971 war veteran, will be observed today, reports UNB. Mukundalal Sarker was born in 1909 at Dharmaryer Bari Village under Muksedpur Upazila of Gopalganj district. During his long political career, he played an important role in building a strong resistance against the imperialist forces and actively participated in the movement against Zamindary system. He was detained for several times for his role against British rule, said a press release. Mukundalal Sarker was imprisoned under defense of Pakistan rule in 1965. To observe the day, special prayers will be offered and a discussion will be held in the evening at his younger son journalist Ajit Kumar Sarkar’s Dhanmondi residence.
