Two sued over ‘rape of Baul singer’

 A case has been filed against two people in connection with the rape of a Baul singer at Gazirchat in Ashulia, reports UNB. The victim filed the case with Ashulia Police Station on Thursday night, said Rezaul Haq Dipu, officer-in-charge of Ashulia Police Station. Police said the female Baul singer used to live at a house at Palashbari and sing songs in different programmes. The victim went to the shop of one Abul Kalam, a Baul singer of Gazirchat area, for taking money which she earned after singing a song at a programme on Wednesday.

When she was waiting at Kalam's shop one Sujan Bhuiya, 35, called her to his house with help of a nine year old child and violated her confining her to a room.

Taking advantage of the situation, another man Badshah Bhuiya also violated the woman. The duo also beat up Kamal and the female Baul singer.

Later, the victim filed a case against Sujan and Badsha with Ashulia Police Station. Police arrested Badshah while Sujan went into hiding.
