Shakespeares Hamlet coming on stage today
Two more local plays to be staged at same event

Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) will stage world famous play Hamlet today at 7pm at the National Theatre Hall of BSA in Segun Bagicha of the capital. The play will be brought to the stage as a part of the ongoing 11-day Ganga-Jamuna Cultural Festival 2018.
The play Hamlet, originally written by William Shakespeare, has been translated and adapted by late ambidextrous writer Syed Shamsul Haque and directed by eminent director Ataur Rahman.
Hamlet is a play that undertakes a profound exploration of moral dilemmas; it is also audacious and comic-tragedy with the themes of murder, distrust, clandestine affairs, palace-conspiracy and revenge. Set in the Kingdom of Denmark, the play dramatises the revenge Prince Hamlet is instructed to enact on his uncle Claudius. Claudius had murdered his own brother, Hamlets father, King Hamlet, and subsequently seized the throne, marrying his deceased brothers widow, Hamlets mother Gertrude.
The production gets a new dimension as poems and songs by Rabindranath Tagore, Jibanananda Das and Syed Shamsul Haq have been incorporated with interference of light comedy of traditional jatrapala.
Along side, directed by Shahidul H Khan and scripted by Asaduzzaman, Oboyob Natyadal will stage their play Pheriwala today evening at the Studio Theatre Hall of BSA.
On the other hand, Sirajganj-based theatre troupe Tarun Sampraday will stage its play Osomapto at the Experimental theatre Hall of BSA at the same time.
